It's almost time!

Hi!

I don't actually start my adventure for 2 months but I figured I'd get on here and start getting acquainted with the blogspot world!

Jisan Valley Rock Festival, July 2009
I've been teaching English in South Korea for 3 years and despite the ease of my life here I've decided that it's time to say good-bye to the land of the rising sun and see what else is out there.  So sometime between March 5-8 I will be boarding a plane that will take me to some exotic place where I will meet up with a couple of friends I met in Korea who have since ventured elsewhere.

Kuala Lumpur, October 2009
I'll meet Katie and Ally in Bali and after that... well who really knows! We want to see some Komodo dragons, orangutans, strap goggles, snorkels and flippers to our bodies and explore the sea and of course become immersed in Indonesian culture. From Indonesia we'll be traveling north through Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand before heading over to India. At this point in time all I know is that Katie has to be back in Scotland by July 2nd so we'll leave India by then! After India I'll say goodbye to my favourite Scottish girls and head up to Sweden to visit a friend from home... India to Sweden now that should be an interesting adjustment!

Kota Kinabalu, October 2009
I can't really begin to express how excited I am for this trip. While I've traveled to Australia, Tokyo, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, all over Korea and the Philippines I've never done anything "hardcore"! I've always had a great interest in the world and expressed a strong desire to travel from an early age. My initials spell MAP after all so I like to think it's destiny... or whatever!! I hope to learn more about the places we visit as well as more about myself. Just living in Korea for 3 years has taught me a lot about who I am so I can't wait to discover more over the next few months! I'm also not going to beat around the bush about the photography experience I hope this will be... no I KNOW this will be!
Beijing, October 2009

So I hope you join me when I lift off in March with my backpack and camera in tow, a big smile on my face and butterflies in my stomach!

Until then...
